Deity Worshipped:
Linga Of Sri Ranganatha

A Pilgrimage To Kashi Is Not Considered Complete Without A Pilgrimage To Rameshwaram
Significance:
One Of The 12 Jyotirlingas Of India
» Visit Rameshwaram
Rameshwaram is an island situated in the gulf of manner at the very tip of the Indian peninsula. A very important pilgrim centre of the Indians. Rameshwaram is the place from where Lord Rama, built a bridge across the sea to rescue his consort Sita, from her abductor, Ravana. This is also the place where Rama worshipped Lord Shiva to cleanse away the sin of killing Ravana. Both the Vaishnavites and Shaivites visit this pilgrimage which is known as the Varanasi the south.
Rameshwaram Temple
Rameshwaram is significant for the Hindus as a pilgrimage to Benaras is incomplete without a Pilgrimage to Rameshwaram. The presiding deity is the Linga Of Sri Ranganatha, which happens to be one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. Rameshwaram is also popularly referred to as the 'Benaras of the south'. In order to attain Moksha it is believed that the visit to Rameshwaram is mandatory.

Mythological History
According to the Hindu mythology i.e. the story of Ramayana Lord Rama performed thanksgiving rituals to Lord Rama after the battle at Sri Lanka and his triumph over the demon king Ravana. Owing to this Rameshwaram attracts Vaishnavites (worshippers of Lord Vishnu) and Saivites (worshippers of Lord Shiva) alike. Sri Lanka is at a distance of 24 kilometers from Rameshwaram. In fact the entire area of Rameshwaram is associated with various incidents from the Ramayana. Rameshwaram happens to one of the most visited pilgrim sites in India.

KANIPAKAM TEMPLE
Location : Kanipaakam in Irala Mandal, Chittoor District. It is about 11kms from Chittoor town.
God : Vinayaka Swamy
Kanipakam is a small village on the bank of Bahuda River.
"Kani" means wetland and "Pakam" means flow of water into wetland. According to the legend of the temple there were three brothers and each one had a handicap. Viz., Dumb, Deaf and Blind. They were earning out their livelihood by cultivating a small piece of land.
In olden days water was drawn from the well by way of 'Piccota System'. As one of them used to irrigate the field through the channels, the other two used to ply on the Piccota. On one such operation they found that the water in the well got dried up and they could no longer continue their job. One of them got into the well and started digging it up. He was taken aback to see the iron implement hitting a stone like formation.
Later, he was shocked to see blood oozing out from it. Within in a few seconds the entire water in the well, turned blood red in colour. Thus, startled by this divine sight, all the three became normal getting rid of their deformities. As soon as the villagers came to know about this miracle, they thronged to the well and tried to deepen the well further. But their attempt proved futile because the 'swayambhu' idol (the self-manifested) of Lord Vinayaka emerged from the swirling waters.

Sri Ahobilam Mahatmyam
The Lord Narasimha is a vara prasaddhi (One who bestows blessings readily). The exact legend has it that the almighty God took a form of a creature with body of man and head of a lion with super human strength. The God's motive was to kill the demon and save His devotee. The complex form of the Creature is due to the various talismanic powers and blessings the demon had. He (Lord Narasimha) appears in different forms as Ugra Murthi(aggressive form), Shanta Murthy (tranquil form), Yoga Murthy (in penance) and Kalyana Murthy with his consort Sri Mahalakshmi. Ahobilam is the exact location of the demon Hiranyakashupu's palace, which the epic stories of Lord Narasimha speak of. This place still has remnants, relics and ruins of the demon's palace. The pillar from which the God arose is marked by its base stone and can be accessed after an almost vertical climb up the hill. It is believed that the entire mountain split up into two, due to the impact of pillar getting shattered by God and God rising from it subsequently. The pillar's base stone is thus, on the edge of the cliff. In between the 2 hills is a deep gorge like a cleft.

Mahanandi Temple
Location :Nallamallai hills, Nandhyal , Kurnool
Presiding Diety : Lord sive , Sri Mahanandiswara Swamy
Mahanandi is the most famous temple among the nine Siva temples around Nandyala. This temple is at the foothills of Nallamala forest range and is about 15 kilo meters (9.5 miles) from Nandyala town. Major attractions of this temple are the ponds. Natural spring water flows in to the ponds continuously all year round. This is an important pilgrimage and picnic place in the area.
Mahanandi Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Siva. The linga is unique because it is like a rough uncut rock, with two cavities. The priests here allow you to touch the Lord. There is a huge Nandi in front of the main shrine. This temple is unique in South India because the vimana (tower) over the linga is built in the North Indian style. The main gate of the temple faces west. There is a tank here, 60 sqft and 5 ft deep. The mystery is that no one knows how the water enters this tank. One only knows that the water is always the same level and completely crystal clear.
